Doll Use and Maintenance
First, how to assemble your doll
With few exceptions (Piper Doll, Sanhui 160cm seamless) our dolls are manufactured in two separate pieces: head and body. The majority of brands in our catalog utilizes a quick-fix head attachment system. A M16 bolt is first screwed into the body, then the head is pushed into the body. See the demonstration video below:
You may find the bolt screwed in the head. In that case attach the head as shown in the video below (courtesy of Elsa Babe):
Important note: some brands have their own exclusive bolt. If you’re not sure how to assemble your doll please contact us.
If your doll has a removable vagina, here’s how to install the insert:
Sex with your doll
Be gentle with your new doll and move her limbs slowly as you get to know her movement limitations. Joints will be stiff at the beginning however they will loosen up over time.
Don’t spread the legs apart more than you have to for entry. In general avoid leg overstretching and stretching for long periods as these may eventually lead to tears.
Do not put weight on your dolls hands or wrists (as in doggy-style), as they are not designed to bear weight and could break. To engage in doggy-style with your sex doll, support your dolls torso beneath her with pillows.
Use water-based lubricants when entering the vaginal, anal and oral canals to prevent tearing of the skin. If you’re using an insert you may apply vaseline on it to ease entrance. If your doll is made of TPE avoid lubricants containing silicone oil as this doesn’t work well with TPE.
Last but not least, enjoy sex with your doll!
Keeping your doll clean
To clean the doll we recommend using a clean soft sponge. You may use mild antibacterial body soap to remove dirt and residue and then dry with a towel. A new doll should be cleaned ideally a few times. Finally baby powder or corn starch should be applied with your hands to smoothen the TPE/silicone skin.
If you wish to bath your doll, make sure you don’t submerge her head under water. To wash your sex dolls face, very gently wipe with a wet cloth and mild antibacterial soap. Lips and eyebrows are the most delicate areas so be very careful with them. Again, after thoroughly dry, apply a light dusting of baby powder. *Never use a hair dryer or other heat source to blow your doll dry.
When the doll arrives we recommend to (in sequence):
- Wash the doll carefully to remove production residues
- For TPE dolls only, apply mineral oil (Baby Oil is fine) and let it absorb thoroughly
- Apply talcum powder or Maizena
Orifice cleaning
The vaginal, anal and oral cavities of the doll should be cleaned after every use to avoid growth of bacteria.
If the doll’s vagina is fixed, use a vaginal irrigator (often provided) to flush the canal with mild anti-bacterial soap. When thoroughly clean, rinse the canal with plenty of clean water (use again the vaginal irrigator) until all soap is removed. Dry the canal thoroughly.
If the vagina is removable, you may wash with running water.
To dry the vaginal and oral orifices we recommend using tampons. Some of our customers successfully use pumps such as aquarium pumps or mattress pumps to ensure all moisture is removed from the cavities. Others have used a loofah sponge on a stick with success. Once the cavity is dry, if you wish to disinfect it please use hydrogen peroxide 3%. Spray some on a tampon and leave it inside for about half an hour. Never use alcohol to disinfect as it leaves the TPE over-dry.
Skin care
Dust regularly your doll with baby powder to avoid the skin become slightly tacky.
To maintain and prolong the life expectancy of your TPE doll, you may apply baby oil on her whole body at least once a month (baby oil will absorb in 30-60 minutes). Use a cotton towel or a makeup brush. This will help the TPE maintain its original suppleness, the tactile experience will benefit as well as the TPE’s resistance to stretch cracks. Areas that stretch a lot such as between the legs and the underarms may also require extra care: apply Vaseline or Nivea cream on a weekly basis. These might take up to 6-12 hours hours to completely absorb. Do not use alcohols, hydrocarbons (like benzene, toluene and xylene) and acetone as they will dry out the TPE making it more likely to rip or tear.
If however your doll is made of silicone please do not use care products containing mineral oil (baby oil, vaseline, Nivea creme) as these might harden the silicone.
Please note that Vaseline, Nivea cream and baby oil might remove the original make-up from the face, breast and vagina of your doll, as well as any self-applied makeup. Avoid application in those areas or be very careful and not rub it in.
Make sure that any clothing put on your dolls is color transfer resistant. Wash at least twice any clothing or underwear included in the package before using it on your doll. The discoloration of clothes, especially darker ones, can stain the surface of the doll. Stains can usually be removed, but it will be a time consuming process.
Remember to use only water-based lubricant. Silicone based lubes can damage your dolls skin.
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight as this will cause prevent premature aging of the TPE/silicone material.
Skeletal care and storage
Your lovedoll is manufactured in an upright position. Do not leave her in bent positions for long periods of time to avoid possible deformation. Dolls are not supposed to be kept in a standing position unless bought with the so called ‘standing option’. Keeping a doll without the three bolts of the standing option in a standing position will likely cause damage to the foot plant (cuts, holes).
Do not overextend her limbs or place excessive pressure against the skeleton natural movement range, as this may result in damage over time.
When not used the doll can be stored in the original cardboard or flight case, preferably in a fairly dry place, not too cold or too hot. TPE may start to deform at temperatures of 50-55 degrees Celsius.
The doll can also be stored vertically. If the body has the standing option (the three bolts in the foot) it can stand constantly, although the presence of support (a wall for example) is always recommended. Bodies that are not too heavy can be hung from a horizontal bar (e.g. in a wardrobe). To hang the body you need a specific hook that The Silver Doll provides on request and for a small fee to buyers of most brands in our catalog.
To protect the doll during storage please use soft materials that do not stain. Soft blankets and foam mattresses are among the most popular and recommended materials. If you use memory foam we recommend to leave a hole for the buttocks and the breasts to avoid the risk of flattening them.
Heating
A few brands in our catalog offer the heating option. If you have a non-heating doll but would like to warm it up you may use an electric blanket. Manufacturers recommend not to heat the surface of the TPE/silicone above 50°C / 122°F. Any temperature above would cause excessive softness in the material so making it prone to deformation. As for the warming of the orifices, you may use a heating rod (sometimes included in the package. If not included please get in touch for info on how to get it). The heating rod must be inserted with the doll with closed legs and for just 2-3 minutes to avoid possible damage from TPE overheating.
General maintenance: a demonstration video
Our partner Irontech has made a useful video that covers a few aspects of doll maintenance and repair. Here’s the video:
Please note:
- The product used to remove the lipstick and dirt stains is generic make-up removal oil, available in supermarkets and health&beauty stores.
- The product used to remove the clothing stain is TPE stain remover.
- To attach nails use any strong-bond glue.
- To repair TPE cuts as seen in the video use TPE solvent.
In this video, courtesy of SEDoll, we look instead at a deflated breast in a TPE doll. To fix this you will just need a 100ml syringe and a needle:
